MUSIC MINISTRY GUIDELINES

"There is an exception to every rule, with the approval of the director." -Me

All choir members need to have the following compliance documentation on file at the parish: Application for Volunteers with Children and Youth; Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check; Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Clearance; Signed Compliance Statement; Attendance at Safe Environment Inservice; Confidential Reference Form (if applicable).

LITURGIES
The choir is expected to sing at all Sunday liturgies. In addition, participation for Holy Days of obligation is encouraged and anticipated. Parish Family Nights on Saturdays take precedence over the Sunday liturgy for that week.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You are expected to be at mass at least 10 minutes early for announcements, questions and preludes.

If you cannot attend rehearsal, it is suggested you arrive 15-20 minutes early at mass to prepare yourself and review any new music we will be leading. You may also get updated information from Darcie or our website (see the footer on this page).

Cantors will be retrained each season. Just a reminder, cantors must be confirmed in order to proclaim Gods word from the lectern.

MUSIC
You are responsible for all music assigned to your number (when available). If, for some reason, your music or binder become lost, you will be responsible for reimbursement.

The choir is always open to new musical suggestions. Please present your ideas to Darcie at anytime.

ATTENDANCEDRESS CODE
Along with our desire to glorify God, we also like to develop an appreciation for commitment among our members. When a member commits to being a part of the choir, he or she commits to joining our family and a family members absence is painful. Therefore, we have developed attendance guidelines to strengthen our family and renew a sense of membership pride.

If you are going to be absent from rehearsal (or mass), please contact Darcie first. Contact information can be found on all music ministry materials you receive.

Please be prompt for rehearsal. If you plan to arrive more than 15 minutes late, please talk to Darcie in advance.

The choir is expected to dress suitably for their ministry. Logo t-shirts and sweatshirts are not accepted attire. Jeans are also not allowed (with the exception of Parish Family Nights). Shorts during the summer should be dressy, no cut-offs will be allowed. Also, during colder weather, please remove your coat and hang it up before mass. If you think youll be chilled, please bring a suit coat or sweater.

In addition, attire for Christmas and Easter is suggested as Sunday best with no exceptions.

SEASONS

Each liturgical year will be divided into seasons. All rehearsal schedules (subject to change) and expectations will be given in writing to choir members. If you are unable to meet rehearsal requirements for a specific season, you will not be permitted to sing for the more significant liturgies of that season. Also, you will be encouraged to take a leave of absence for the following season (i.e. only attend 8 rehearsals in Season 1, rejoin in Season 3).
